You will enjoy a refreshing change in the atmosphere. Soak in the peaceful waters and gorgeous scenery. It’s the perfect place to plan a getaway you won’t soon forget. Lake Tinaroo is an incredible and unique retreat.
It is a sanctuary for birdwatchers with more than 200 recorded species to keep you enthralled. The more adventurous can hike through the lush rainforest or ride a bike on the tracks around the Dam.
Discover world-class fishing
The fishing at the Lake is second to none. The Barramundi in the Dam can grow to a colossal size, as they have no natural predators like crocodiles.
The world record Barramundi (121 cm and 38.75 kg) and the world record Sooty Grunter (5.45 kilograms) were caught in Lake Tinaroo. The famous Barra Bash is held each year around November. There is no closed season or a maximum size limit.
The lake’s ability to produce World Record fish makes it a unique fishing destination.
You will find varied accommodations to suit everyone. Pitch a tent or park your motor home on camping grounds. You may even want to pamper yourself and stay in a luxurious resort!
The Dam was started in 1953 and completed in 1958. It’s now one of the three most extensive water storage in Queensland. Damming the Barron River supplies water for local farming. It also supplements the water moving through the Barron Gorge Hydro-Electricity Station.
With as much as there is to see and do, it’s no wonder that Lake Tinaroo is Tableland’s most popular holiday spot.
